Each month explores a new theme inspired by the seasons, goddesses, archetypes, folklore and more.

We begin with a guided visualisation and oracle card pull to gather inspiration before exploring the theme through art. You'll have a range of materials and creative prompts to play with, but no finished example to copy.

We end by bringing our work together, celebrating how differently everyone has interpreted the theme, and finishing with an oracle card pull.

You don't need any previous art experience or knowledge of the materials we'll be using. Creative Play is about experimenting, following your curiosity and becoming more confident trusting your own creative decisions.

You'll be given guidance and inspiration throughout, without being told exactly what your artwork should look like.

Paints, stamps and stencils are regular studio favourites, alongside materials and techniques such as Brusho, cyanotypes, bubble painting, collage, drawing, glitter, mixed media and more.

Although you'll discover new materials, techniques and ways of creating along the way, Creative Play isn't about everyone learning to make the same finished piece.

It's a space to experiment, break through perfectionism and develop creative confidence by making your own choices. The same theme and materials can lead to completely different artwork, and that's exactly what we want.

Each Creative Play session is gently guided by a seasonal and magical theme, often linked to a feminine archetype or goddess energy that reflects the tone of that time of year.

These themes draw inspiration from the natural rhythm of the seasons, the quieter, inward months as well as the more expansive, expressive ones, and the different faces of feminine energy we move through creatively and emotionally. One month might invite rest, reflection, and tending the inner hearth; another might explore playfulness, growth, or creative expansion.

The goddess energy or archetype acts as a symbolic guide, offering imagery, mood, and inspiration rather than rules to follow. You’re never expected to work literally with a theme, and you’re always welcome to bring your own ideas, questions, or creative threads into the space.

Over time, these seasonal themes can help you build a deeper creative practice, one rooted in intuition, whimsy, and meaning, while always leaving room for personal interpretation and freedom.

No. Each Creative Play session works as a standalone experience, so you can come whenever a particular theme calls to you.

If you do return regularly, you'll experience different themes, materials and ways of creating while gradually becoming more confident and creatively free.

Many people find that coming monthly allows the sessions to build on one another, creating a familiar rhythm and a stronger sense of ease within the space. Having this time in your diary each month can become a deeply nourishing anchor.

That said, there’s no requirement to attend every session. You’re always welcome to come when you can, whether that’s once, occasionally, or more regularly. Creative Journal is here to support you, not add pressure or expectation.

However you choose to attend, you’ll be welcomed exactly as you are, and invited to simply pick up where you left off.

You don't need to arrive feeling creative.

In fact, Creative Play is particularly lovely if perfectionism, comparison or the belief that you're "not artistic" has stopped you from creating in the past.

There is no right artwork to produce and nobody is judging the outcome. The whole point is to give yourself permission to experiment and discover what happens.

No. Everything you need to take part will be waiting for you in the studio.

Just bring yourself, clothes you don't mind getting a little creative in, and a willingness to play.
